California Dream Act for Illegal Aliens

California is broke. No money. The economy in California is in complete shambles. The unemployment rate is among the highest in the nation. So, what does the California State Government decide to do? Cut spending? Find more efficient ways to run the State at a lower cost for the benefit of Californians? Encourage businesses to stay and prosper by reducing regulations and taxes against them?

Of course not. The liberals in California are more about ideology and buying votes than they are about doing what is most beneficial for the State.

California has instead decided to spend more money on people who are in this State illegally. Great way for the democrats to secure the Hispanic vote. . . just in case.

Governor Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown indicates he signed the bill into law because he is interested in expanding educational opportunity, and signing the Dream Act into law makes illegal aliens eligible to receive state financial aid to attend California universities and community colleges - which of course would disallow some legal residents from receiving aid because theirs was taken by an illegal.

I am not one that is in favor of governmental aid for college tuition because it actually drives up the cost of education, and drives down the value of a degree. But if there is to be aid handed out, should it not only be to people who are here legally? Why should Americans lose out because their money was handed out to someone who broke the law to be here?

Under AB 131, illegal aliens can receive, beginning in 2013, Cal-Grant assistance, which last year provided grants averaging $4,500 apiece to more than 370,000 low-income students.

The measure also allows illegal aliens to receive institutional grants while attending the University of California and California State University systems, and to get fee waivers in the California community college system.

That's an awful lot of an opportunity for law breakers to take away benefits that should go to legal residents.
